Step #1: Be True to Who You Are

No one enjoys being around fake people. Plus, no one can really get to know the real you unless you are true to yourself. You do not need to be what anyone else needs you to be. All that you need to do is be yourself and let others conform to who you are! The biggest mistake that you could make, especially early on in your career, is to create a persona that is not true to who you are or what you believe in.

Step #2: Socialize with Others

One of your first steps after getting situated at your job is to get to know your coworkers and those who you are going to be interacting with on a weekly basis. Work will be so much easier if you are able to get along with those around you. Also, people are more willing to listen to you or help you if there is a personal relationship that goes beyond the workplace. The hardest part about getting to know others is taking the first step. Get out of your comfort zone and get to know those around you!

Step #3: Take Risks

You may be the youngest or most inexperienced person at your workplace. Embrace that! So many people get caught up in their ways or they do things “because we have always done it that way”. Bring your energy and your youthfulness to the table. Do not be afraid to speak your mind or give ideas. Chances are, other people have thought of the idea, but they just need confirmation from someone else to throw the idea out there. Be that person that is not afraid to speak their mind or put their ideas out there for the world to see!
